FINAL RELEASE
COBALT3 OFFERS INDUSTRY-FIRST "SMART" COMPUTER CHASSIS FAN NOISE REDUCTION SYSTEM -- THE PYRAMID V
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 18, 2002) - In preparation of the company's debut at Comdex 2002, Cobalt3 today announced its release of their newest model, the Pyramid™ V. Engineered around the premise that today's PC typically operates well below the heat capacity for which its chassis fan cooling system is designed, the Pyramid™ V is a microprocessor controlled, small foot print device that is compatible with all existing as well as new computers. Centered around its patent pending, innovative thermal management system the Pyramid™ V reduces computer chassis fan noise by almost 40% while reducing power consumption and increasing user productivity.
"This is an exciting new product for the PC market" says the company's CEO, Percy van Rijn. "We're very confident the Pyramid™ V will be an extremely popular product for both consumer electronic retail stores and computer manufacturers this year. Today's computer user is growing weary from the ever increasing, ever present case fan noise and is looking for an effective yet inexpensive solution that works with their current PC and is a snap to install", the Pyramid™ V answers all these challenges.
SMART DEVICE
Using a microprocessor the Pyramid™ V controls a computer's cooling fans and only speeds them up when the computer demands it. The temperature sensor is placed inside the case at the warmest location ensuring that the temperature will not rise too high at any location. The Pyramid™ V is a "smart" device since it speeds the fans up variably and NOT in a low/medium/high fashion like other fan speed systems.
FAIL SAFE
Case fans are the "life blood" of a computer and therefore several fail safe modes have been built into the Pyramid™ V. If the Pyramid™ V 's internal processor fails, the fans will automatically go into high speed. Furthermore, the fans are initially started at their highest speed to ensure proper fan capability, and the processor will attempt numerous restart in case the fans stop responding. The built in temperature sensor also interacts with the internal processor to measure high temperatures inside the case upon which it sounds the audible alarm and runs the case fans at their highest speed.
HIGH POWER CAPABILITY AND REDUNDANCY
Despite, its small size the Pyramid™ V is capable of handling the biggest of power requirements with its exclusive Dual Power Output Driver Technology (dPOD™). This design provides for a N+1 type redundancy in the system under its continuous load rating of 4 amps. The Pyramid™ V achieves this high power rating with an inline power loss of only 25 milliamps of driving current, making its own heat generation negligible. Additionally, the Dual Power Output Driver makes the Pyramid™ V a true active control system as it does not have the typical voltage drop that prevent other systems from achieving 100% of a fan's maximum speed.
INSTALLS IN MINUTES
With the Pyramid™ V's small footprint (about 1" square) and the preinstalled mounting tape, installation is not only convenient, it is also done in mere minutes, just find the location where the sensor is best able to sense the temperature, plug in your fans and the installation is done. Unlike other devices, the Pyramid™ V is not just hung as a cable connector but rather it is securely installed as a dedicated and integral part of your computer. In order to facilitate multiple fans, the Pyramid™ V is equipped with two 3 pin connectors and a 4 pin connector that can accommodate several 4 pin fans by simply daisy chaining all fans together.
